This position under the supervision of the Pretreatment Coordinator as a liaison between the city and its commercial users.  The position's main focus will be on customers who use grease traps or interceptors as a part of their wastewater discharge process.



The listed duties are essential job functions that the position has been created to perform.  The list of duties is not exhaustive.  The employee may be called upon to perform any task that is implied from the listed duties or is within the scope of the job summary.  Attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.

  1. Performs skilled inspection work to ensure compliance with City Ordinances pertaining to interceptors.  Completes inspection forms, enters information into a database, and maintains records for compliance and tracking purposes.
  2. Samples wastewater according to applicable procedures and approved methods, and schedules testing with commercial laboratories.
  3. Conducts work within confined spaces and in some instances high traffic areas. Uses a variety of safety equipment to prevent incidents.
  4. Assists the Pretreatment Coordinator with field investigations to determine the source of contaminants in the sewer system.
  5. Educates business owners and managers about best management practices for reducing grease, oil, and solids accumulation in the City sewer system.



  1. Knowledge of safe working conditions and procedures.
  2. Ability to work outside in various conditions and terrain.
  3. Must possess a valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License.
  4. Knowledge of commercial grease trap operation.
  5. Knowledge of basic plumbing.
  6. Ability to read blue prints and drawings.
  7. Ability to operate various types of hand tools tools.
  8. Able to climb in and out of confined areas.
  9. Basic knowledge of computer software and programs.
  10. Lift weights of 50 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  11. Ability to stand, stoop, kneel or sit for long periods of time.
  12. Must utilize independent judgment and decision making abilities as necessary.
  13. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a team environment, and with minimal supervision.
  14. Professional attitude, tact and courtesy necessary to deal with internal and external customers.
  15. Ability to work as many hours needed to get the work assigned completed.
  16. Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.
  17. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  18. Ability to obtain licenses/certifications to perform work assignments.
  19. Ability to respond at any hour during an emergency when requested.
  20. Ability to understand and follow City of Conroe and Departmental policies and procedures.

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License
